Camp Waskowitz – Day 2

April20

We had another fun filled day at camp.  We started the day with a field trip to the Cedar River Watershed.  We stopped at Masonry Dam and walked out across the dam observing nature around us.  Our kids even were lucky enough to see an owl take off from a log.  From there we went to Chester Morse Lake for a little more observation.  Mr. Poage came to visit us today, and went on the field trip.  This afternoon we spent learning about SOIL.  Students did several soil tests to check for acidity and looking at the layers.  The highlight was digging in the rotting logs.  Tonight we played a game called Planet Earth.  The object was to leave the earth better than we have it while playing a simulation of the game of life.  We wound up the day with a campfire and s’mores.  It was an awesome second day at Waskowitz!
