MAP Testing Next Week

It is will be very important for your student to charge their device over the weekend and be sure to bring it with them on Tuesday (1-18) and Wednesday (1-19) fully charged for the Winter MAP Testing we will be doing in class. We will take the ELA test on Tuesday and the Math test on Wednesday. Your student must also have their own set of headphones. I do not have extra to loan them. Thank you for your cooperation in helping your student be successful.

It is your responsibility to make sure you bring your device with personal headphones to class on Tuesday, 1-18 and Wednesday , 1-19. We will be taking the Winter MAP test in ELA and Math on those days and your device is necessary both days. Thank you for being responsible!

FLASH begins…

We started our unit on Family Life and Sexual Health or FLASH today. Students came up with ground rules for class time around this learning. These include:

  1. No put downs or making jokes at someone’s expense
  2. Be respectful of each other’s feelings
  3. Protect people’s privacy by keeping our discussions in the classroom or with a trusted adult.
  4. Any question is a good question, some will need answers from home.
  5. Respect personal beliefs
  6. It’s OK to not ask questions, or pass

I have encouraged the students to come home and talk to the parents about what they are learning. Thank you for participating in those discussions with them to help them understand and navigate this growing time in their lives.

Second Step Lesson 5

Lesson 4: Time to Reflect

In this week’s lesson, your child will learn how to reflect on their experience working toward a goal.

Try This at Home

Ask your child to tell you about their goal-setting journey, including what worked, what didn’t work, and what they could do next time. Tell your child about a goal that you set and worked toward. What worked, what didn’t work, and what did you learn?
