Pure Food Kids Workshop
Do you know what a calorie is? Do you know about how many calories you need in a day? Students today learned about these facts and many more during our Pure Food Kids Workshop. Students worked together in groups to investigate different food products. They searched for information like how much sugar a serving has, and how many trans fats do the products have. We looked at ingredient lists, and discussed how they are listed in order of greatest amount to the least amount. We learned that the fewer the ingredients the better, and it is best to be able to read and know what the ingredients are. Our culminating event was making healthy chili. Students prepared the ingredients by chopping up green and red bell peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, and onions. We added corn, kidney beans, and various spices to our chili. Our teacher, Bill Marsh, cooked it all up for us, and we all were able to sample the chili. Boy was it Good!!! Check out our pictures of our adventure today.
